Take your next sundowner experience to new heights at the city’s best rooftop bars
Rooftop Bars in Bangkok are a must-visit for your trip. At every Rooftop Bar, they offer magnificent 360 degree views of the city or Chao Phraya River. Imagine yourself being at the top of Bangkok, enjoying your cocktail and at the same time taking photos of yourself against the magnificent backdrop. The best is to go during 5pm or 6pm to catch the sunset.
I love it so much as it is somewhere I can relax and chill out over some drinks as compared to clubbing where it’s noisy. Rooftop Bars are more comfortable for me. Perhaps it’s due to my age? Over the past 2 years, I have been visiting many Rooftop Bars and here I have them compiled for you, not according to my favorite, but according to the level. Don’t think that the lower rooftop bars are not attractive because they do offer something to compensate for the lower views of the city.

#1_At: Lebua @ State Tower (Level 64)
Area: Silom
Sky Bar provided my virgin sky bar experience. It is also one of the most popular Sky Bars in Bangkok. I remember arriving at a luxurious State Tower and being greeted by pretty and glamorous Thai girls at the lift lobby leading to the Sky Bar. The experience was unforgettable because I was awed by the beautiful scenery of the city and Chao Phraya River from such a high level of 64. Sky Bar is an open air bar but I also love Distill, which is an indoor bar as it is so chic and glamorous. I like to enjoy my cocktail here at the comfortable seats instead of standing at the sky bar. This place remains my favorite Rooftop Bar because of the magnificent backdrop for photo taking with friends but ever since Hangover II was released, I stopped coming here because of the huge crowd here.

#2_ Vertigo & Moon Bar At: Banyan Tree Hotel (Level 61)
Area: Sathorn
Five years ago, when you mention Rooftop Bar, people will associate it with either Sky Bar @ Lebua or Vertigo @ Banyan Tree. They are the pioneers in utilizing the space of the rooftop and making it into a beautiful bar and fine dining restaurant in the open. This location allows romantic Fine Dining with a magnificent view and backdrop with your loved ones. Definitely a memorable experience. I like the view here, offering a 360 view of the city.

#3_ Red Sky
At: Centara Grand @ CentralWorld (Level 55)
Area: Pratunam / Siam
Red Sky is conveniently located at Centara Grand Hotel at Central World. It is also the area which most Singaporeans stay (Pratunam and Ratchaprasong). This rooftop bar is popular with locals, probably due to the price and location. Over here, expect views of Pratunam and Siam.

#4_ Octave Rooftop Lounge & Bar
At: Bangkok Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit (Level 45)
Area: Thong Lor / Sukhumvit
Octave Rooftop Bar gained popularity extremely fast and one of the attributing factors is the round bar which is very similar to the one at Sky Bar Lebua. Another factor is that it’s located along Sukhumvit and in this area, there is no rooftop bar like Octave. Octave offers you a stunning 360° unobstructed view from one point of the rooftop bar

#5_ Cloud 47
At: United Center Building (Level 47)
Area: Silom
Cloud 47 is not located in a hotel but in an office building. Getting here requires a little navigation but not to worry as I have it covered in my detailed post. There is no dress code here and you need not be in smart casual to be here. And if you want lots of space, this is the place to go to. Don’t expect a glamorous bar as compared to the rest but this bar offers you a good space, good view, good food and drinks at a relatively affordable rate as compared to those located in hotels.

#6_ ZOOM at Sathorn Sky Bar & Restaurant
At: Anantara Bangkok Sathorn (Level 40)
Area: Sathorn
ZOOM is one of the newest Rooftop Bars in Bangkok. ZOOM offers 360º cityscape views on the 40th floor of Anantara Bangkok Sathorn. You can see Sathorn, Chao Phraya and Sukhumvit with its uninterrupted skyline views. It’s very spacious and do try their desserts here too. I love their Granny Smith Thin Tart!

At: Mode Sathorn Hotel (Level 38)
Area: Sathorn / Surasak
The Roof @ 38th Bar offers a 360º degree view of the city if you walk around the circumference of the rooftop bar. You will get to see Chaophraya River and the popular lebua @ State Tower, capturing a nice picture. The colour scheme here is also in line with Mode Sathorn’s fashionable theme.

#8_ Three Sixty
At: Millennium Hilton Bangkok (Level 32)
Area: Riverside / Chao Phraya
Three Sixty is just by the Riverside of Chao Phraya River and it really offers you the closest and best view of Chao Phraya River. There are two sections to Three Sixty, the outdoor lounge and jazz lounge. This is such a romantic place to come with your other half and I like to call this the Romantic Rooftop Bar

At: Fraser Suites Sukhumvit (Level 32)
Location: Sukhumvit / Nana
Above Eleven is not located at a prestigious hotel but at Fraser Suites Sukhumvit on the popular Sukhumvit Soi 11. This area is known for its pubs and nightlife and Above Eleven is definitely a headline for this area because it’s a beautiful rooftop bar offering magnificent views. This New York Central Park-inspired restaurant serves Nikkei Peruvian-Japanese food, the first in Southeast Asia, and the only one in Bangkok doing so. You want to check out this place as it is popular both with locals and foreigners.

#11_The Roof Gastro
At: Siam@Siam Design Hotel (Level 25)
Area: Siam
The Roof Gastro is located on the 25th floor of Siam@Siam Design Hotel. It offers you quite an unobstructed view of the other part of Bangkok even from the 25th floor. If you love football and there’s a match at National Stadium, you can catch all the live action here with an “helicopter view”. The Roof Gastro specialises in French cuisine, so do check out if you like French food!
